Prior to creating the multistate sales & use tax practice of Stafford & Associates, Inc., Steve headed up Deloite and Touche LLP’s multistate sales & use tax practice for the Orange County and San Diego offices. Steve has over 25 years experience working with industry leaders in the multistate sales & use tax area.

Steve works with most industry types large and small. His experience includes audit representation through the appeal process, voluntary disclosure programs and credit studies through the claim for refund process.

Steve was also a member of the interest party committee representing various industries in working with the State to rewrite a number of sales & use tax regulations. These rewrites not only greatly reduced sales tax charged to industry customers but also alleviated costly sales & use tax audit liabilities.

Steve also teaches multi-state sales & use tax CPE classes to CPA firms and MCLE classes to Law firms.

Steve is a licensed CPA and graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration (Accounting).

Prior to joining Stafford & Associates, Inc., Melissa Clark worked as a senior tax auditor for the State Board of Equalization in CA. Melissa worked with the state for 12 years.

While an auditor with the state Melissa was in charge of teaching Sales & Use Tax Law and Auditing Technique classes. She also trained the new incoming auditors.

Melissa was a spokes person for the State Board of Equalization at tax seminars given to the general business public.

Melissa attended the University of San Diego where she received her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in finance.

Prior to joining Stafford & Associates, Inc., Vicky Taylor worked for Deloitte and Touche, LLP and helped develop their multistate sales & use tax practice in the San Diego office where she worked 5 years.

Vicky has over 21 years experience in the multistate sales & use tax arena, which included working as a State sales & use tax auditor. Prior to joining Deloitte and Touche Vicky worked in private industry for 6 years.

Her experience includes audit representation, audit defense, tax law research, voluntary disclosure, refund claims, sales & use tax savings strategies, and training.

Vicky’s industry experience includes aerospace, bio-tech, telecomm, medical and government contracting manufacturing, etc. Vicky has taught multistate sales & use tax classes to various groups over the years.

Vicky is a licensed CPA in California and New Jersey. She graduated from California State University, Fullerton where she received her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting.
